Ensuring a perfect fit for your blinds starts with accurate measurements. Incorrect measurements can lead to blinds that are either too big or too small. Follow these steps to measure your windows like a pro!

What You'll Need:

• Steel Tape measure.
• Pencil.
• Paper or notepad.

Step 1: Choose Mounting Style

Decide whether you want an inside mount or an outside mount for your blinds.

• Outside Mounts: Installed on the outside of the window casing, providing flexibility and creating a shaded effect.

• Inside Mounts: Installed within the window recess. Ensure a minimum depth of 100mm to accommodate the blinds properly. Before measuring, inspect the window area for any obstructions. Look out for handles, burglar bars, and window cranks that could affect the function of the blind.

 

 

Step 2: Measure the Width of the Window

Inside Mount:

• Extend the measuring tape horizontally from left to right. Take three measurements (top, middle, bottom), and record the narrowest measurement.

Outside Mount:

• Extend the tape horizontally from the left to the right. Take three measurements top, middle, and bottom. Record the widest measurement.  and record the widest measurement. Add an overlap of 120mm to ensure.

•  We recommend adding an overlap of 120mm to the total width of the window to ensure the best coverage and effective mounting. For example, if your window measures 1000mm, adding 120mm would result in a total width of 1120mm.

 

Step 3: Measure the Height

Inside Mount:

• Extend the tape vertically from top to bottom, taking three measurements (left, center, right). Record the tallest measurement.

Outside Mount:

• To measure for an outside mount, extend the measuring tape vertically from the top to the bottom of the window. Take three measurements at the left, center, and right positions. Record the tallest measurement and add 120mm to this total height to accommodate the mounting brackets.

 

Step 4: Double-Check Measurements

Step 5: Order Your Blinds

• Now that you have your accurate measurements, you can confidently order your new blinds. When ordering, provide the exact measurements you recorded. 

Step 6: Install Your Blinds

• Once your blinds arrive, carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation. With your accurate measurements, the installation process should be easy and straightforward.
